Exclusively Floors

Our knowledge and expertise in Hardwood Flooring sets us apart from most floor covering companies. With services such as sanding, refinishing, staining, customized bordering, inlays, medallions, nail and/or glue down installation and many other wood flooring specialties our commitment to this industry is unsurpassed. Many other flooring companies are limited by the section of moldings and other transition pieces which are produced by their prospective suppliers. With Kittle’s Flooring Company that’s not the case. We have our own in-house milling and molding shop. This allows us to manufacture stair treads, risers, baseboards and numerous transition moldings, which can optimize job site needs and requirements. This is another aspect of our company that really set us apart from our competition.    Kittle's Flooring is proud to announce we have added a new segment to our business. We can provide our customers with quality vinyl and expert installation.

Unlike most floor coverings, wood floors are a long-term investment that, if correctly maintained, will last the lifetime of your home. The physical properties of wood that attract us most are: natural warmth and beauty, fits any decor and is uniquely versatile, easy maintenance, can be restored, refinished and recoated, environmentally friendly and adds value to your home.

Many wood floors are installed in one direction with a single size plank. This is the most common and least expensive method of installing a wood floor. Many of our customers choose this process and we are happy to accommodate them.
However, if you are someone who is looking for that extra special something, wood comes in many different lengths and thicknesses. The many different sizes of planks allow for extensive creativity. By using different size planks and diverse species and colors, many beautiful designs can be created. Working alongside you, we at Kittle’s Flooring Company are experts at this highly specialized and exacting work.

Types of wood:

Solid wood: Solid hardwood floors are made of planks milled from a single piece of timber. Solid hardwood floors were originally used for structural purposes, being installed perpendicular to the wooden support beams of a building known as joists or bearers. With the increased use of concrete as a subfloor in some parts of the world, engineered wood flooring has gained some popularity. However, solid wood floors are still common and popular. Solid wood floors have a thicker wear surface and can be sanded and finished more times than an engineered wood floor.

Engineered wood: Engineered wood flooring is composed of two or more layers of wood in the form of a plank. The top layer (lamella) is the wood that is visible when the flooring is installed and is adhered to the core. The increased stability of engineered wood is achieved by running each layer at a 90° angle to the layer above. This stability makes it a universal product that can be installed over all types of subfloors above, below or on grade. Engineered wood is the most common type of wood flooring used globally.

No other product seems to cause as much confusion as Laminate flooring. Perhaps this is because Laminate varies so widely in price and quality. To begin with, all Laminate flooring is constructed essentially the same way. To paint a basic picture, it consists of a core, usually high density fiberboard (HDF). On top of that is a thin layer of the decorative surface -- wood grain or stone look -- made of a resin based on melamine. Think of the decorative layer like a photograph of a piece of wood. The decorative layer is, in turn, covered with a clear plastic wear layer to protect the entire plank.

Laminate contains no “real wood.” Laminate is a flooring material that is made to look like wood, but is not wood. If you see an ad that says “Laminate Wood Flooring,” be a little suspicious. True laminate contains no solid wood. Keep in mind, only wood is wood.
